Urashima (浦島) was the love-interest of Otohime. He was sealed in a cryo-chamber until Otohime would find a way to make herself beautiful again. He was essential for Yorozuya to dispel the gas which turned citizens of Edo into old men and women.
Background[]
Prior the storyline of the series, Urashima was invited to the Dragon Palace City after he rescued one of Otohime's subordinates. He was well treated and spent time with Otohime, who fell in love with him. Urashima told her she was the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen in his life, not only referring to her beauty, also to her kind soul.
Once he returned to Earth, Urashima found out that his village no longer existed, as the time in Earth and in the Palace passed in differently ways. He fall in despair and tried to kill himself, but he was rescued by Otohime by putting him in a cryo-chamber waiting one day he would wake up again.

- He is based on Urashima Tarō, the protagonist of the Japanese fairy tale "Urashimako". Urashima is a fisherman rewarded for rescuing a turtle, and carried on its back to the Dragon Palace (Ryūgū-jō) beneath the sea.
