Patriot Reunion Party Arc is the 55th arc of the Gintama series. This arc introduces Kurokono Tasuke and shows a moment of the past of the Joui Four.
Story[]
Sakata Gintoki was late to the reunion party of the Joui Patriots, and was ridiculed by Sakamoto Tatsuma and Katsura Kotarou as a result. Annoyed, he wanted to leave, but was stopped by the two.
After a while of arguing over Gintama's plotline, Katsura revealed that all of them were invited to the party by the fifth Joui member, Kurokono Tasuke. Nevertheless, none of them could recall nothing but irrelevant (and possibly incorrect) memories about Kurokono.
Suddenly, Takechi Henpeita came to deliver a letter with a Pocari can from Takasugi Shinsuke, which reminded the trio that they had killed Kurokono while attacking the enemies instead of playing "kick the can" with him. Fearing of his return as a ghost, Katsura went to the toilet and disappeared. While looking for Katsura, Sakamoto also disappeared, whereas a panic Gintoki rushed back to the tatami room.
It was revealed that the whole party was a trap set by the Kiheitai crew to kill off Takasugi's former comrades. Being ambushed by the Kiheitai, a gas-induced Gintoki dreamt of meeting Kurokono and eventually defeated them. Meanwhile, a shocked Kijima Matako was forced to release Sakamoto and Katsura by a well-and-alive Kurokono.
The next morning, Sakamoto and Katsura woke up, having no memory of what happened last night.
