Lesson 550 is the 550th chapter of the Gintama series.

In the Shinsengumi headquarter, Yamazaki wrote a report on what had happened on the Kokujou Island, expressing the force's loyalty under Kondou Isao.

After Sasaki's death, Kondou told an upset Hijikata that either Sasaki or Kondou had to die, and that it wasn't just black and white. While so, Hijikata stated that they had all put the black they mixed, and that they had to move on.

Outside, Tetsunosuke admitted to Nobume that he had never understood his half-brother to cry for him. Though, despite having Hijikata as his brother and the Shinsengumi as his family, Tetsu still wanted to boast about that to Isaburou and Sasaki and Hijikata talking together. As the Shinsengumi and Mimawarigumi saluted to Sasaki, Nobume sent an email to thank him for the name and threw the phone down.

As a consequence of the rebellion, Nobu Nobu placed all blame on Sasaki, dissolved all organizations under Sasaki's control and completely reformed the police force. His action had led to many people's departure from the Hitotsubashi Faction to Matsudaira's anti-Bakufu force, and there were no police to track them down.

At Kozenigata's house, despite Haji's insistence, Otae decided to leave there after staying a while to take care of him, as she believed that she, as well as the police, had to come back to work. On the way, she found Kondou stalking her in a trash bin. Instead of beating him as usual, she gave him the umbrella, saying that he would catch a cold. A sad Kondou was surprised at her words, claiming that her reaction would make it harder to say goodbye.
