Lesson 542, titled Shinigami, is the 542^nd chapter of the Gintama series.

Summary[]

An injured Nobume ordered the Mimawarigumi to retreat, much to Sasaki's surprise. He tried to communicate with her, but his radio was cut down in the process.

Despite Nobume's insistence, Okita and Kagura chose to confront the newly-arrived masked Tendoshuu member. He told Nobume that she had betrayed her masters twice, and she replied that she only followed her own will from now on. Then, Nobume, Kagura and Sougo joined forces in an attempt to fight against the enemy. Nevertheless, the first two were quickly defeated, whereas Okita got injured.

Upon realising the opponent's immense power, Okita questioned the masked person's identity. Nobume revealed that he was Utsuro, founder of the Naraku.
