Lesson 520 is the 520th chapter of the Gintama series.
Summary[]
In the present, Gintoki and Takasugi went on fighting fiercely. In the Joui War flashback, after Gintoki had beheaded Shouyou despite his pleas, Takasugi ran towards the others and was hit in the eye by a blade from Oboro, thus having his left eye destroyed. Though, Oboro chose not to kill any of the Joui warriors, believing that they could not fight anymore.
In the present, Takasugi criticised his opponent for choosing his comrades over his teacher, and accused him of using Shouyou's death to survive. However, Gintoki believed that, if Takasugi was him, he would do the same thing, stating that he did not choose to protect Takasugi, but the soul of "Takasugi Shinsuke of Shouka Sonjuku," even if he had to use the corpse of his teacher and his former comrade as a stepping stone.
Takasugi smiled at the answer and realised that he "was not expelled from the school." Though, he was suddenly impaled by a shakujo with blade and subsequently collapsed from the wound, much to Gintoki's shock.
