Lesson 514 is the 514th chapter of the Gintama series.

Summary[]

As Gintoki and Kagura attacked Takasugi and Kamui, from above, their hits were swiftly blocked by their respective opponents. Takechi attempted to help Takasugi with his army, but all of them (including himself) were knocked out by Shinpachi. Similarly, the Yato members of Harusame also tried to join in the fight, only to be stopped by Hattori's web of sharp, seemingly invisible threads. The Shogun, finally met Hattori again, held his shaky, kunai-holding hand and said it was not how one throws a kunai, recalling of their childhood days.

Meanwhile, Takasugi mocked on how Gintoki dragged Shinpachi and Kagura along, claiming that there was nothing he could protect now. Gintoki, unfeared, replied that everything had been protected by the Yorozuya. Still, Takasugi maintained that there were nothing for both of them to protect, that what was close to the other were just his toys and that they would be destroyed with the country. Though, Gintoki said that he had not lost anything but a back to protect, implying on Takasugi himself.

Quotes[]

  • Sakata Gintoki: (To Takasugi Shinsuke) While you've abandoned a hundred, I’ve connected with a thousand. While you've destroyed a thousand, I’ve been helped by ten thousand. So what is an army of a few thousand? We’ve protected everything as just three people. We are... the Yorozuya.
  • Takasugi Shinsuke: (To Sakata Gintoki) There is nothing left in this country for us to protect. What you’ve embraced are nothing but toys in a game of make-believe. And those will be destroyed along with this country.
  • Sakata Gintoki: (Referring to Takasugi Shinsuke) All that has happened is... I have one less back to protect.
