Kamiyama is a troop member of the Shinsengumi 1st Division, under the command of Captain Okita Sougo. He was in the same team led by Okita that charged into the Rokkaku hotel in a surprise raid of the Joui hideout, but ended up slaying Rokkaku Muneharu, the owner of the hotel and father of Kirie, when the hotel owner turned out to be in cahoots with the Joui rebels.
Appearance
Wear a pair of spectacles with curly swirls, short black hair with side parting, on top of his regular Shinsengumi uniform.
Personality
In addition to being overly officious and boot-licking Okita, he seems to have an abnormal fixation with Okita's butt. When Okita revealed that someone tried to stab him, Kamiyama asked him whether he was 'stabbed' in the butt 3 times. This led to Okita stabbing Kamiyama back in the butt with the suspect's weapon knife to shut him up.
Nonetheless, he seemed genuinely concerned for his Captain's life, and eventually told his superiors about Okita being targeted by the resurgent extremist Joui faction Soukaitou even though Okita forbade him to do so. However, in Kamiyama's handphone, Okita's contact was listed as Ultra-S(adistic) Idiot (ドSバカ, do S baka).
