Husband Hasegawa Taizou 長谷川 泰三 used to be the Bakufu's Head of Immigration Department, assigned with a special duty to protect Amanto Prince Hata. However, instead of protecting, he punched the Prince instead, thereby failing his duty, and was ordered by his superiors to undergo 切腹 seppuku. Hasegawa chose to escape and has been unable to hold down a steady job ever since he got fired from this job, as a result of which his wife Hatsu ハツ left him. Hasegawa has been trying to get back together with his wife ever since, from trying hard to secure a job, to finding more permanent accommodation and even trying to send her cakes and gifts on her birthdays.
