Hachirou's mother came to Edo from the countryside looking for her son by the name of Hachirou, whom she has not seen since he left home 5 years ago, not knowing that he has undergone drastic plastic surgery in order to work as a male host and has adopted the new name of Honjou Kyoushirou 本城 狂死郎. Son is now known as Honjou Kyoushirou after having gone through cosmetic surgery
Appearance
Has 2 prominent moles on her face, prompting Gintoki to ask whether those are buttons that can make her self-explode when pressed in Episode 54.
Personality
A typical concerned maternal figure, she first appeared in Yorozuya's place unannounced and prepared breakfast for them on her own initiative, much to Gintoki's displeasure. Naggy and long-winded, she chided them for eating so noisily and constantly reminded them to chew 20 times before swallowing.
Yet she displayed a very understanding nature when the occasion arises. When she came face-to-face with her by-now totally-changed son, she did not expose him though she recognised him as her own son as the son did not publicly acknowledge her due to his shame at having abandoned the face his mother gave him by going through cosmetic surgery.
