Introduction[]
The story takes off right after Part A of Episode 367. This part of the semi-final focuses on the Yorozuya and is a prequel to Gintama THE FINAL, adapting the chapters that were not able to make it into the movie.
Plot[]
Continuing from the end of the last season, Shinpachi stops a group of sword-carrying thugs from attacking Gintoki. Shinpachi finds the mysterious man familiar, and afraid that he would be recognised, Gintoki uses a loincloth to cover his face. Gintoki knocks him into the river to divert the attention of the thugs, but they surround Shinpachi instead. The thugs were led by Shachi, who did not approve of Shinpachi using the Yorozuya name and believed that he was Gintoki's true follower instead. Gintoki beats them up and asks Shachi how he managed to get out of prison. Shachi reveals that Asaemon had released all the prisoners when the prison caught fire during the war two years ago, on the condition that they return to the prison to atone for their crimes when the war was over. Shachi did not return to prison, but instead ran off to buy screentone to finish drawing the nipples for his manga character.
After two years Asaemon finally caught up to Shachi and wanted to punish him for hunting down people's nipples. Shinpachi clears up the misunderstanding, and agrees to be the first reader of Shachi's manga so that he can finally complete his dream. However, Shinpachi is overly critical and it escalates into an argument between Gintoki and Shinpachi. Gintoki knocks him out and carries him back to Yorozuya.
At the Yorozuya home, he accidentally picks up Kagura's bra while she was showering. Believing that he was an underwear thief, she attacks him. Gintoki throws her into Shinpachi and runs away. Kagura looks at the silver hair that she grabbed in his hands, and the two chase after Gintoki. Suddenly, the Central Terminal explodes. Gintoki uses his body to shield her from the explosion, but as he was still using her bra to cover his face, she kicks him away.
The two hear news that President Zuramp had been assassinated by an anti-government organisation, and run into Sougo and Hijikata, who have re-assembled the Shinsengumi to take down the group responsible for the attacks. Shinpachi admits that he had lied back then when the Yorozuya parted ways, and he did not have anything else that he wanted to do. Kagura also said that she left to resurrect Sadaharu, but could not do anything on her own. They realised that what was important to them was right here in Edo, and that they would move forward from where they started out — Yorozuya.
At the Yoruzuya, they see Otose setting up her bar instead of fleeing to safety. She tells them that she opens her place for idiots who have nowhere to go, and for the Yorozuya to return to. Shinpachi and Kagura dress up in his old outfits, and tell Otose that the Yorozuya's final mission is to grant Gintoki's wishes. Otae, Sacchan, Kyuubei and Tsukuyo enter the bar and agreed that no matter what Gintoki wished for, they would work towards it together. The group walk out to see Kabukicho residents gathered outside, the people that the Yorozuya once protected, bounded together by the thread that is Sakata Gintoki.
