The More You're Alike, the More You Fight (似てる二人は喧嘩する, Niteru futari wa kenka suru) is the forty-eigth episode of the Gintama anime and is a two-part episode.

Part AEdit

A group of assassins want to take Hijikata out. The problem: None of them really expected what would happen when they ecountered Gintoki.

A Joui group plan to assassinate the Shinsengumi vice-commander, Hijikata Toushirou. The assassins first follow him to a restaurant, where they are about to attack him, but are disturbed when he orders a 'Hijikata special' (mayonnaise in a bowl). It turns out that Gintoki is also there, with a Gintoki-don (sweet beans over rice). The two argue over the superiority of their dish over the other's, with the Joui assassin stuck between them, whom Gin and Toshi force to taste-test.

The Jouishishi then follow Toshi to a movie theater, but the Joui leader is again caught between Toshi and Gin, who start a fight in the theater, and are attacked by the angry movie audience. The assassin attempts to take advantage of the chaos to kill Toshi, but is thrown into the movie screen by Hedoro, who scares everyone and ends the chaos in the theater.

Both Toshi and Gin attempt to think like the other to avoid encountering each other again, but this only ends up in them meeting again, in a public bath. The assassin attempts to kill both through dehydration by locking them in the sauna while watching them from the door window. He is shocked by their behavior, however; neither attempt to avoid looking weaker than the other, and they even fully increase the temperature. Gin eventually collapses and Toshi carries him as he prepares to leave. Admiring the duo's bravery, the assassin gives up on killing them and opens the door, telling them to get out. Gin then suddenly springs up and attacks Toshi, attempting to force him through the door first. They briefly argue over who was stronger, and finally notice the unconscious assassin.

Part BEdit

Gintoki, Shinpachi, and Kagura ecounters an old man who "forces" them to play games with him. At the same time the local ninja gather for the funeral of Zenzou's father.

  • The opening in this episode was fast-forwarded, because according to the anime staff, they had a lot to show that day.
  • The movie Hijikata watches, "My Neighbor Pedoro", takes its title from Ghibli film My Neighbor Totoro.
