The More You're Alike, the More You Fight (似てる二人は喧嘩する, Niteru futari wa kenka suru) is the forty-eighth episode of the Gintama anime and is a two-part episode.

Part A[]

Introduction[]

A group of assassins wants to take Hijikata out. The problem: None of them really expected what would happen when they encountered Gintoki.

Plot[]

A Joui group plan to assassinate the Shinsengumi vice-commander, Hijikata Toushirou. The assassins first follow him to a restaurant, where they are about to attack him but are disturbed when he orders a 'Hijikata special' (mayonnaise in a bowl). It turns out that Gintoki is also there, with a 'Gintoki-don' (sweet beans over rice). The two argue over the superiority of their dish over the other's, with the Joui assassin stuck between them, whom Gintoki and Hijikata force to taste-test. He then passes out from the flavors of both their dishes.

The remaining Jouishishi then follow Toshi to a movie theater, but the Joui leader is again caught between Gintoki and Hijikata, who start a fight in the theater and are attacked by the angry movie audience. The assassin attempts to take advantage of the chaos to kill Hijikata but is thrown into the movie screen by Hedoro, who scares everyone and ends the chaos in the theater.

Both Gintoki and Hijikata attempt to think like the other to avoid encountering each other again, but this only ends up in their meeting again in a public bath. The final assassin attempts to kill both through dehydration by locking them in the sauna while watching them from the door window. He is shocked by their behavior, however; both refuse to back down and look weak and even fully increase the temperature. Gintoki eventually collapses and Hijikata carries him as he prepares to leave. Admiring the duo's bravery, the assassin gives up on killing them and opens the door, telling them to get out. Gintoki then suddenly springs up and attacks Hijikata, attempting to force him through the door first. They briefly argue over who was stronger, then finally notice the unconscious assassin.
