Introduction[]

This part of the semi-final focuses on the Shinsengumi and is a prequel to Gintama THE FINAL, adapting the chapters that were not able to make it into the movie.

Plot[]

At the Shinsengumi headquarters, Hijikata tells Kondo and Sougo that he will search for Gintoki and bring back the Yorozuya. Kondo said that he would continue to fight for those who have fought alongside them, and leaves the group to fulfill his duty to...marry Princess Bubbles!

At the wedding, held on Planet Gorilla's mothership Bahnana, Kondo is pushed to his limits and calls Matsudaira for help. Matsudaira tells him that he does not have a choice, since he already has a child, Junior, together with Princess Bubbles. Matsudaira explains that after he left her at the altar during the Yagyu Arc, she got depressed and spent nights outside with countless gorillas. Kondou believes that one of the gorillas must have fathered her child but Matsudaira insists that he accept his fate and cuts off the line. Kondou tries to escape, but a miscommunication with the guards cause him to be sent back to the wedding hall.

Suddenly, Junior's real father storms into the wedding venue to reclaim his family. Due to miscommunication, Kondou accidentally challenges Junior's father to a fight. Kondou engages in an unintentional battle with the gorilla, under the false impression that Junior's father was grateful towards him for returning his lover. Junior's father gets injured and is carried out by Princess Bubbles.

Princess Bubbles brings him to the control room and demands that they land their ship on Earth. Kondou tells Princess Bubbles that he will step aside so that she can find her happiness. Princess Bubbles reveals that she could speak and understand the human language, and that she was able to have her own family because of what Kondou did. As those around her did not approve of her relationship, she begged Kondou to bring them to Earth so that she can run away with her lover. The other guests of the wedding arrive at the control room to stop the Princess. Junior attacks Kondou and throws him onto the Bahnana's controls, damaging the ship and causing it to split apart.

In the meantime, the remnants of the Tendoushuu prepare to land on Earth and launch an attack, in order to drain Altana from the rebuilt Terminal. Their followers on Earth have removed most obstacles around the Terminal, but face resistance in the form of Gintoki, Takasugi and Katsura. Above the Tendoushuu's ship, Sakamoto and the Kaientai shoot beams at them. The Tendoushuu set up a barrier, but are crashed into by the rapidly falling Bahnana ship. Both the Tendoushuu ship and Bahnana crash into Edo. Mutsu questioned the surprise attack, but Sakamoto looks on with a smile.

Princess Bubbles explains to Junior that Kondou is not his father, but someone who protected their family and whom they owe a debt too. Princess Bubbles gives Kondou his uniform back, so that he can return to person he was back then. The Shinsengumi run to the crash site and watch as Kondou emerges from the rubble.

After reports of the crash, news reporter Hanano Ana interviews the war hero Hasegawa as the crowd surrounds and cheers him on. As he bends forward to tie his laces, he is attacked by one of Tendoushuu's ship. The Shinsengumi fight the Tendoushuu army on the ground as they make their way towards the Terminal. Sougo comments that they are not suited to be peace-keeping policemen and felt right at home on the battlefield. They see Shinpachi, Kagura and the rest of the allies, including the Hyakka, Oniwabanshu and the Kabukicho residents running towards the Terminal. Hijikata reflects that they all have something to protect - their battlefield is one that is right next to Gintoki.
