Plot[]

In Enshou's flashback, he recalls falling for his brother's lover and luring him into the enemy's trap. He eventually takes her as his wife, but unable to live with the guilt, constantly seeks out wars and battles as an escape. He acknowledges that to this day, he was still running away from her.

The energy system of the SS Heavenly Bird has been destroyed and the Flame of Kagutsuchi goes into hibernation mode. Enshou orders his men to restart the system but their monitors show most of the army lying dead on the ground. At that moment, Sakamoto, Katsura and their men burst into the bridge. In the meantime, Takasugi slashes the central control unit, causing a huge explosion. He wonders about his dead comrades and how he has nothing left to call his own; at the very least, he wanted to give his life for their sake. Seeing that the ship is about to crash, Sakamoto demands that Enshou and the army surrender. However, Enshou refused to give up; he uses a beam saber-like sword, which can shoot and deflect bullets, to attack Sakamoto and Katsura. Mutsu and Elizabeth jump in front of their respective leaders to shield Enshou's attacks.

Enshou reveals his plan to crash the SS Heavenly Bird, with all its stored energy from the Flame of Kagutsuchi, into Earth as a last-ditch attempt to destroy the planet. Shijaku launches an attack at Enshou, but Enshou blows up the entire bridge. Katsura and Sakamoto chase after him; he asks the two men if they hated him for taking away their loved ones, as he too hated himself for losing everyone he loved and hated. Enshou was determined to burn himself into ashes due to his deep hatred. Enshou lifted his sword to launch a final attack at the two men. However, Katsura retorts that they would never stop loving and hating, no matter what they lost, and blasts Enshou into the next room, where his men were prepared to evacuate. Enshou and the army were shocked to see Shoukaku and Takasugi enter the room.

At the central control room, Matako survived the explosion, her shirt caught onto a railing that prevented her fall. She gradually slips off the railing but is caught by Takechi. Matako asks the Kiheitai strategist how he managed to get there. Takechi explains that a large inflatable raft, tied into place by Shoukaku, broke their landing into the SS Heavenly Bird. Shoukaku had earlier made a promise to Batou that the survivor would avenge the other. Takechi tells the ape to gather all their men to stop the army from evacuating.

Takasugi, Katsura and Sakamoto fight Enshou together; Katsura sets off a bomb that blows off Enshou's arm. Takasugi swings his sword at Enshou, but his vision fades and he collapses onto the ground. Earlier, when Shoukaku rescued Takasugi in the aftermath of the central control explosion, they discovered that the Kiheitai leader was already mortally wounded. Shoukaku was about to inform Takechi of their leader's state, when Takasugi interrupted and told Takechi that they had no time to waste. He also tells Takechi to protect Matako, whom he calls the catalyst to Kiheitai's formation. He ends the call and struggles to stand on his feet, telling Shoukaku that there was no need to let the Kiheitai know of his situation, as he needed to remain the Takasugi that they all believed in. Although he was nothing more than a hero in their dreams, Takasugi wondered if they were still willing to stand by an ordinary man by the name of Takasugi. He comments that there was no need for a hero anymore, strikes the final blow at Enshou and falls to his knees.
