Introduction[]
Gengai has gone missing, and Ensho has brought out his trump card. How can the Odd Jobs, the Shinsengumi, Katsura, Sakamoto, and Nobunobu get out of this desperate situation?
Plot[]
The communication channels have been partially restored and Nobu Nobu sends a radio message to Earth, which was picked up by Princess Soyo. Unable to speak to her due to his guilt, he passes the radio to Sakamoto, who explains that they have broken out of jail with the help of Shijaku's fleet. He explains that that their plan was to work with Prince Hata's fleet to take control of the army's mothership, SS Heavenly Bird, and tells the princess and the others to hang in there for a little longer.
The Shinsengumi, Shinpachi and a drunk Gintoki search for Gengai in Edo. Sougo spots a trail of poop and the group follows it, believing it was a clue left behind by Gengai. However, the trail led them to Kondou, who was washing his soiled underwear. Hijikata then spots a trail of blood and, believing that Gengai must have been seriously injured, rushes to help him, only to find that it was caused by Zenzou's hemorrhoids acting up again. Kagura tells the group to trust her Yato's instincts and follow her.
The Yato warriors and Gengai get in touch with Enshou. Gengai tells the army's leader that he does not know how to disable the nanomachine virus. Enshou reveals that he has already activated a weapon of mass destruction that would turn Earth into space dust in 6 hours. Shijaku tells Sakamoto and the Kaientai that Enshou was preparing to fire the Flame of Kagutsuchi from the mothership, which has the ability to destroy planets in one shot, and fears that it might be too late for Earth.
Gengai asked if Enshou was willing to destroy his comrades on Earth together with the planet. Enshou responds that his comrades on Earth would be glad to become the foundation of their victory. A few members of the army question Enshou's motive, but he shoots them down and explains that he wanted to destroy his hatred and sorrow in the flames of war. Sakamoto and the Kaientai fight off Enshou's men on the ship. Nobu Nobu responds to Princess Soyo's call and assures her that he would protect Edo and the country, just like her brother would. He tells her that he had neither the right nor the capability to be a true shogun, but he could become the country's stepping stone. On the verge of tears, Nobu Nobu asks for Princess Soyo's forgiveness; the princess tells him that she would not forgive him, unless he returned to Earth safely and visited her brother's grave with her.
Back on Katsura's ship, he explains that the plan was to have Prince Hata's fleet surround the Altana Liberation Army, to lure them away from the SS Heavenly Bird, so that Katsura and the Joui Rebels could enter stealth mode and raid the mothership. However, the plan backfires as an argument between Prince Hata and Hasegawa over stolen pudding accidentally activates the ship's laser beams, which caused the Altana Liberation Army to retaliate. The two fleets fire at each other and Katsura's ship was caught in crossfire. A missile hits the ship and leaves it unable to steer towards the SS Heavenly Bird.
Realising that Earth would soon be destroyed, the Yato warriors inform the Altana Liberation Army on Earth to bring down the country by dawn. As the Shinsengumi and Yoruzuya fight the army, Hijikata calls Matsudaira for advice. The older man tells them to toss aside Earth for now and search for Gengai instead. Hijikata is unwilling to but Gintoki explains that he was certain that a man out there would not sit back idly and watch the Earth get destroyed.
Another ship crashes into the back of Katsura's ship and drives it towards the mothership. The two ships crash into the SS Heavenly Bird, where Sakamoto and the Kaientai were struggling to fend off the army. Katsura and his men emerge from his ship unscathed, and is surprised to see that the man in other ship was...Takasugi! He tells the two other men that he was the only one who had the right to destroy Earth.
