Introduction

Hasegawa comes up with a new way of making money by telling scary stories to children about his own misfortunes. But as soon as he runs out of ideas he turns to the Yorozuya for some advice for more stories.

Plot

Late at night in a narrow pathway, Hasegawa confronts two girls talking about summer vacation. He tells them a scary and macabre story about having a perpetual vacation is sheer madness. Hearing this the girls run away in fear, while Hasegawa laments on his own "Endless Summer Vacation". Initially his intention was to warn the children against walking down the same path that he did, but his scary stories draw the attention of a bunch of young kids who paid to hear his stories every night. While his new occupation is lucrative, Hasegawa has run out of ideas for stories. To remedy his problem, Hasegawa visits the Yorozuya for help. Kagura tells Hasegawa a scary story first, which turns out to be a parody of the hit series Saint Seiya. Agitated by the fact that the story told was not a scary one, Hasegawa elaborates to Kagura the various essences of what makes a scary story. So Kagura tells another one, which turns out to be another Saint Seiya parody. Though Hasegawa chastises Kagura over her non-scary stories, Gintoki is clearly freaked out by...the copyright infringement they would get into.

Shinpachi then tries his hand at telling a scary story, however, it was interrupted by Kagura with a Saint Seiya character. Apparently Kagura figured Shinpachi's stories were far too cliched, so she added some "originality" to them. With Gintoki left who hasn't told a story, he then takes a shot at telling a scary. His story, however, is far too contrived and draggy, and Hasegawa was not impressed with the heartwarming ending. The group argues about the ending and Yorozuya try and recreate Gintoki's ending with a swarm of Phoenixes. This prompts a phone call from a representative from the copyright agency. However, it is heavily inferred that the entire visit to the Yorozuya office was just Hasegawa telling a scary story to a bunch of kids.
